The tale of my experience with system studies can start a million ways. I’ll start by saying that PSS/E is one of my least favorite power systems analysis programs. But it has had major staying power in ERCOT over the last decade. PSS/E is also the power systems analysis software I know best. You do what you can to overcome the API returning objects with missing attributes, a manual that tells half truths, and remnants of the Fortran layer underneath that you’d rather not have to learn in 2025.
